Evaluation Draft 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
-  Used Youtube as a platform to present our video
- Used conventions of a typical acoustic/hip hop video such as telling a story (narrative), hand held camera to make it more realistic, fast shots to keep up with the pace of the song, casual costumes and dangerous props e.g. knife.
- As far as challenging conventions I would say that using mainly female characters to act out the story definitely challenges the stereotypical conventions of an acoustic/hip hop video as we usually don’t associate violent behaviour and knife crime with young women.

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
-  Same colour scheme
-  Same type of images
- Same house theme so that people automatically link it to the same artist and easily identifiable to our audience
- Created synergy by aiming to promote the same product (Lucy Spraggan Album)
- Overall I think that they are successful because they are both clear and easy to read in order for people to see what we are trying to promote and market to our target audience

What have you learned from your audience feedback?
From our questionnaire we created on survey monkey and interview/focus group chat we carried out and uploaded to Youtube we discovered the following from our audience:
- That they liked the idea of cutting between lip syncing and story telling
- They didn’t think having a clip of a live concert was compulsory for a music video
- (can't get to Youtube video as it is on private)
Questions I will ask our target audience for more up to date feed back:
- Do you think the lip syncing is in time?
- Do you think there is a good amount of story telling?
- Are there any points of the video that don't make sense or isn't clear what's happening?
- Are there any improvements you think we need to make?

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluating stages?
- Editing on final cut pro
- Camera to record and take images for ancillary tasks
- Serif Page Plus for magazine advert
- Website creator to create website
- Adobe Photoshop to edit images for ancillary tasks
- Youtube to upload final cut of video
- Social media for audience feedback
- Been a big progression from AS to A2 as I have learnt how to use a larger range of soft wear products and also learnt about them and how to use them in more depth

1 comment:

  1. This is far too brief. Question 1 needs you to state the codes and conventions of all three products and how you used them , why and if you challenged them and why. Youtube as a platform is more for audience. Consider promotion more for Question 2. For question 3 consider the importance of audience feedback throughout and define who you audience is. Question 4 needs more on how media technologies allow you to make an effective final product.
